Common Core Writing Standard 10

Write! Write!
Day and Night!
Write short pieces
and those with thesis.
Informative and Narrative,
Responses and Persuasive!

As a culmination to the writing standards, the folks who wrote the Common Core State Standards urge us to write, write, and write some more! They want kids to write long pieces and short pieces of all kinds.

Check out College and Career Readiness Anchor Standard for Writing 10 (CCRA.W.10): Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of tasks, purposes, and audiences.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: the range of writing activities in your classroom is only limited by your imagination. Whatever you are doing, ask yourself, "How can I integrate writing in this unit of study?" Good luck!
